Who Can Get Help From MMO?

Our Food Pantry is available to low income families, and our Clothing Center is available to everyone. We also offer Crisis Assistance for families and individuals who have specials needs because of a crisis or emergency.

Do you charge for anything?

No. All of our resources and services are free.

What hours are you open?

Our donation hours are Mondays & Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our program hours for the Food Pantry and Clothing Center are Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Crisis Room is open Monday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Do you have any other special programs?

We sure do! Our seasonal Community Garden project lets clients grow their own food and supplies local agencies with fresh produce, and our annual Back To School project helps kids fit in at their schools with clean, new clothes. Our newest project, MMO 2 Go, serves the working poor by delivering boxes of various goods to workplaces that pay minimum wage.

What areas do you serve?

To participate in our food program, clients must live in Osage, Washington or Nowata county. Our Clothing and Crisis programs are available also available to residents of these counties, and well as residents of Montgomery and Chautauqua counties in Kansas.

Do you have any volunteer opportunities?

MMO welcomes volunteers from all walks of life and all faiths. We currently have over 100 volunteers who are divided into over 15 teams, but there's always room for more! Groups are also welcome to volunteer, and we are always happy to give tours of our facilities.

Do you collaborate with any local agencies?

We work closely with many local agencies, and we're working on a plan to further integrate our services (read more). Additionally, we distribute food and other resources to many agencies in the area, focusing on agencies who serve youth or elder citizens.

Are you affiliated with any church or denomination?

No. We work alongside many local churches to serve the less fortunate, but we are not operated by or associated with any particular church.

What is your yearly operating budget?

Our budget for 2014 was $399,000.

Is your building paid for?

Yes! We completely paid off our building loan in January 2010.

Where does your funding come from?

MMO is affiliated with United Way, and 29.6% of our funding comes from them.

Of the funds we receive from United Way, 60% goes to food, 23% goes to clothing, and 17% goes to crisis relief.

We also receive funding through private and corporate donations.

Where does the food in the food pantry come from?

50% of the food we give away is purchased from the Tulsa Community Food Bank, and the other 50% of the food is donated by the Walmart Distribution Center. In 2014, we received 920,622 lbs food from the Walmart Food DC.

Where do all the diapers, toiletries and other sundries come from?

The Walmart Return Center in Bentonville, AR donates these items to the United Way. We travel to Bentonville three to four times every month to pick them up.
