Joining forces with Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma

A leader in the Bartlesville nonprofit community, Mary Martha Outreach, will be joining the fold of Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma in January, after longtime MMO Executive Director Jamie Wood announced her retirement.

In its 19th year of operation, Mary Martha Outreach distributes millions of pounds of fresh, quality food and produce to those in need each year.

Mary Martha Outreach was founded in 1998 in Bartlesville by several community activists, including Wood.

“It has been an incredible blessing to serve those in need in our community,” Wood said. “The decision has been made to join MMO with Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma. I am so happy that this compassionate organization is taking over the helm. I have full confidence that their leaders’ hearts are passionate and grounded in faith and love.”

Wood said she first started thinking of retirement in July. After praying about the decision in church, Wood said God led her to the right choice.

“I had been thinking about retiring, but I just didn’t know how we would find someone to do it that wouldn’t be too expensive,” Wood said. “All the sudden, the Lord said Father John (O’Neill) was the new priest here (at St. John Catholic Church).”
